Golf lessons
Prior to Market Properties operation there was little to no marketing of golf instruction.
Upon the initial start -up in October of 2007, we hired an Independent Contractor Teaching Professional. He
gave 19 lessons in the first 3 months (Oct., Nov., Dec.) of operation. In June of 2008 we hired an I_PGA /PGA
Golf Professional as our General Manager. Although the Independent Contractor did a minimal amount of
marketing, the General Manager did none. We were still able to increase lesson income at the 3 month
interval, as well as, a year to year basis. In 2009, marketing was increased, both Independent Contractor and
General Manager advertised on radio and television. The Golf Course did its fair share in advertising as well.
Lessons more than tripled! In general, yearly lessons went from 106 with revenue of $7,971.50 in 2008 to
493 with revenue of $24,698.22 in 2009.
Our goal is to generate $80,000- $100,000 in lesson revenue. We want to build a Teaching Area located to
the west of the existing lower level practice range area. We will use the existing covered area for a teaching
studio with a place for video lessons. We hope to have somewhere between 4 & 6 Teaching Professionals.
Golf lessons StItlstics
3 month ( :
Dec.)
Description
Totals
2006
Iry Carlisle
1 lesson?
$21.00
2007
1 pro -only
19 lessons
$990.00
2008
#1 -Pro
30 lessons
$1,506
#2 -Pro
12 lessons
610
42 lessons
$2,116
2009
#1 -Pro
98 lessons
$4,905
#2 -Pro
16 lessons
$791,
114 lessons
$5,696
Year -to -Year
Description
Totals
2008
#1 -Pro
137 lessons
$6,826
#2 -Pro
23lessons
L145
160 lessons
$7,971
2009
#1 -Pro
378 lessons
$18,922
#2 -Pro
115 Iessons
5 776
493 lessons
$24,698
Creation of this teaching area which includes earthwork, irrigation and electrical power is estimated
to cost $7500. This will be an opportunity for Eugene residents to grow their golf games, allow junior golfers
to learn the game of golf, and create job opportunities for golf professionals.
