On Sunday, September 9, from noon to 4 p.m.,
thth
there will be a car-free route along portions of West 24 Avenue, Agate Street, 19 Avenue,
th
University Street, Potter Street, 27 Avenue and Hilyard Street that opens the streets for people to
walk, roll and dance through the streets.
Eugene Sunday Streets still needs more than 100 volunteers to make this event safe and fun
for everyone. The position in most need of volunteers is “Intersection Superheroes,” who help direct
traffic flow, answer questions, and set up or take down barricades at their designated intersection..
There are two shifts available: from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and from 1:45 to 4:15 p.m. Volunteers can
work one shift and then still have time leftover to enjoy the event. All volunteers receive a free
Sunday Streets T-shirt and will be entered into a raffle to win prizes from local businesses like Ume

Grill and Off the Waffle. If you are interested in volunteering, go to www.eugenesundaystreets.org to
sign up, or call the Eugene Sunday Streets Volunteer Coordinator at 541-501-0390.
This fun, free event is presented by the City of Eugene. Amazon, University and Washburne
parks will be featured as major activity centers along the route. Activities include live music stages,
try-for-free yoga classes, hula hooping, dancing and much more. With no designated start or finish,
the two-way route can be enjoyed by walking, cycling, roller skating, skateboarding or dancing at
your own pace. The event is designed to get the entire community outside, having fun and enjoying
healthy activities in Eugene’s public spaces while showing how easy it is to get around without a car.
Eugene Sunday Streets will highlight the many amenities and local businesses in the
Fairmount, South University and Amazon neighborhoods. Although neighbors are encouraged to
limit or postpone driving between 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on the day of the event, there will be a
number of designated intersections where residents can access their homes and local businesses.
To volunteer or learn more about Eugene Sunday Streets, go to
www.eugenesundaystreets.org or contact the City of Eugene Transportation Planning Office at 541-
682-5094 or SundayStreets@ci.eugene.or.us.
# # #

Public Works Administration ● City of Eugene ● 101 E.
