August 11, 2000 <br /> CONTACT: Bud DeSantis, Project Manager, 682-5230 <br /> From Public Information Section, 682-5523 <br /> FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br /> T12AFFIC ADVISORY <br /> LANE CLOSURES CONTINUE ON SIXTH AVENUE, START ON SEVENTH AVENUE <br /> Construction-related delays will continue on Sixth Avenue from Oak to Olive streets, and <br /> lane closures will go into effect in the same area on Seventh Avenue starting Sunday, August 13. <br /> Traffic on Sixth Avenue has been restricted to one lane since Monday, August 7, when crews <br /> from Delta Sand & Gravel started work to install a new manhole at Sixth Avenue and Olive Street. <br /> The crews also have started crosswalk repairs on Sixth Avenue at Willamette and Oak streets, and <br /> that work will continue to limit traffic to one lane through the coming week. <br /> On Seventh Avenue, traffic will be limited to one lane on Sunday, August 13, as crews start <br /> the work of replacing deteriorated crosswalks at Oak, Willamette, and Olive streets. Seventh <br /> Avenue will be reopened to two lanes on Monday, August 14. <br /> Pedestrian crossings in the work zones on both Sixth and Seventh will be closed during <br /> construction. The lane restrictions and crosswalk closures will continue around the clock until the <br /> work is substantially completed in late August or early September. <br /> Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid construction delays.
