October 4, 2 02 <br /> CONTACT: Terry Colvin, Project Manager, 682-5398. <br /> From Public Information Section, 682-5523 <br /> ~ FOR IMME IATE RELEASE <br /> WO K STARTS MONDAY ON TUGMAN CREEK STORMWATER PROJECT <br /> Con truction is scheduled to begin Monday, October 7, on a project to resolve flooding <br /> issues and store natural amenities to a portion of Tugman Creek. <br /> Eug ne's Public Works Engineering Division designed the project to realign and add <br /> meanders t the existing channeled stream through the westernmost portion of Tugman Park <br /> near 36`h A enue and Hilyard Street. This will lengthen the stream, reducing flooding and <br /> extending s asonai use of the open play field in the park. Stream banks will be stabilized with <br /> native vege ation to improve water quality and natural habitat in the stream corridor. New <br /> sidewalks ill be constructed to further enhance this area of the park. Once construction is <br /> completed, here will be opportunities for volunteers to plant vegetation and make other <br /> interesting nhancements along the stream. <br /> Sto water user fees will fund the $295,000 project, which is scheduled to be <br /> I <br /> <br /> i <br /> completed early November. Wildish Construction is the general contractor on the job. <br /> Dur ng construction, the work zone will be fenced off.
