<br /> i <br /> <br /> I, <br /> I,II <br /> i - ~ <br /> - ~i <br /> s ~ <br /> January 12, 2007 <br /> i <br /> I', CONTACT: David Roth, Transportation Planning Technician, david.f.roth@ci.eugene.or.us, <br /> 'I 682-5727 <br /> I <br /> From Public Information Section, 682-5523 or 954-2938 <br /> FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br /> Bicycle Parking and Bicycle Theft Focus of Community Workshop <br /> The first community workshop of the Strategic Pedestrian and Bicycle planning process <br /> will be held Wednesday, January 17, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1062 <br /> Charnelton St. <br /> II The workshop will focus on the topics of bicycle parking and bicycle theft; both of which <br /> were identified as high-priority issues by participants at the Walking and Biking Summit held in <br /> October 2006. Parking issues covered at the workshop will include types of bike parking facilities, <br /> bike parking code requirements for new developments, innovative bike parking solutions, and the <br /> process for creating additional bike parking facilities. Theft issues will include prevention, stolen <br /> bike recovery and law enforcement and prosecution. <br /> The Pedestrian and Bicycle Strategic Plan will guide the City's work over the next several <br /> years to implement pedestrian, bicycle, and transportation demand management elements of <br /> II TransPlan and the Regional Transportation Plan. Over the next several months, there will be a <br /> ~I~ series of workshops, surveys, focus groups and other activities to engage the community in <br /> II developing the Pedestrian and Bicycle Strategic Plan. <br /> For additional information contact David Roth at 682-5727.
