The project is currently scheduled
to have the plans sent to the printers on March 21, bid due April 18, and Notice to Proceed on May
12. I will need any info on design standards by the first part of March.
We have another overlay project which involves City manholes. The project includes Bushnell, E
Bushnell and County Farm Road. This will be a 2" overlay and the project includes minor adjustment
of 15 manholes. This project has been awarded to EGGE with the Notice to Proceed scheduled for
March 17. We used our standard manhole spec with a backfill of 4350 psi. We need to set up a
payment for this one and work out the details.
Jim
-----Original Message-----
From: DELESS Russ D [mailto:Russ.D.DELESSCca~ci.eugene.or.us]
Sent: Wednesday, February 13, 2008 11:04 AM
To: CAHILL Michelle R; STEERS Jim S
Cc: STARNS David; HIGGINS Teri L; HEIL Richard ]; RODRIGUES Matt J; CLARK Debbie D; OLSON Kris D; RAMIREZ Joe F
Subject: RE: WW Manhole adjustment on pavement preservation
..richelle, I do not have any funding in my operating budget to cover this so it will have to come from Engineering's end.
I will have my staff inspect the Sanitary manholes same as we do for our own PPP projects prior to bid and would expect
the completed work to be inspected following completion by Kris or someone from her team working in concert with the
County's inspector. I think that's how we did it before. One concern that I have and you have noted it below, is whose
specifications would be used for the adjustments, the County's or City of Eugene. I believe there is a slight difference, i.e.
I think the County is still identifying a concrete surround at the road surface and we have changed that to an AC lift for the
last 2 inches. (Eugene amendment to RD360) It would be good to have that discussion early on before Jim goes to bid.
Same thing for the manhole frame style. The Eugene standard is different from the ODOT. We will want all the aluminum
lids replaced with the new cast iron wastewater design (Eugene) and just to wrap up loose ends on contract language we
will want to retain the salvage on the aluminum frames and covers.
Jim, it would he helpful for me to know what timeframe you would need my crew to inspect the frames and risers by. I'll
have to schedule a crew to do that. ... Russ
From: CAHILL Michelle R
Sent: Wednesday, February 13, 2008 10:08 AM
To: STEERS Jim S; DELESS Russ D
Cc: STARNS David; HIGGINS Teri L; HEIL Richard J; RODRIGUES Matt J; CLARK Debbie D; OLSON Kris D; RAMIREZ Joe F
Subject: WW Manhole adjustment on pavement preservation
Hey Russ and Jim,
1 hear there are about 21 WW MHs to be adjusted for the pavement preservation program LC is doing in RR/SC area. I
agree the City should pay for our utility adjustment in the LC right of way done by LC or its' contractors. I understand it
might be in the neighborhood of $20k.
,
, ~im -
Where are you in the project process? Have you identified each manhole and whether it is a minor or major adjustment?
What specificiations are you, using for the adjustment? Who is doing the work and who is inspecting the work?
