E U G E N E <br />Parks and <br />Open Space <br />The POS Web Site Re -write Committee <br />August 4, 2005 <br />Mission statement: to restore as much as possible the lively look and easy navigation of the <br />former POS web site, while working within and taking advantage of the benefits of the portal. <br />Agenda <br />1. Introduction & background. <br />- some page elements are standardized City -wide (top banner, left navigation) <br />2. Discussion of goals and methods. <br />- focus on the important features while noting the minor issues <br />- look around at other divisions' web sites & note what you like <br />3. Brief introduction to the portal environment, some terminology and functionality. <br />- portlets: the building blocks of content and navigation <br />- a page is not a page: adaptive portlets & URLs <br />- spreading the wealth: allowing non - technical people to maintain their content <br />4. Assignments. <br />
