September 9, 2013

CONTACT: Katie Marwitz, Project Manager, 541-501-0380

From Public Information Section, 541-682-5523 or 541-954-2938

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Work Begins on Project to Fix South Bank Path in Skinner Butte Park
Work is scheduled to begin this week on a project to repair the South Bank Path
along the Willamette River between RiverPlay (Discovery Village) in Skinner Butte Park
and the DeFazio Bridge.
This project will replace numerous panels of the existing multi-use, concrete path
that are showing signs of deterioration. It will also relocate a segment the path adjacent to
RiverPlay where the river has eroded and undercut the bank.
Work will begin at the east end of the project near the Campbell Center and will be
done in phases. The entire project is scheduled to be substantially completed by October
28.
Segments of the path will be closed during construction. The suggested alternate
route for path users is Cheshire Ave.
Total estimated cost of the project is $350,000. The primary source of funding is the
2008 voter-approved measure to fix street and bike paths. Kipco, Inc., of Eugene is the
general contractor on the project.
For updates on this and other road and bike path projects in Eugene, go to
www.keepusmoving.info or follow EugenePW on Twitter.

# # #

Public Works Administration ● City of Eugene ● 101 E.
