September 6, 2013

CONTACT: Patrick Cox, Project Manager, 541-682-6854

From Public Information Section, 541-682-5523 or 541-954-2938

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Creek and Path Repairs to Close Sections of Fern Ridge Path
Work is scheduled to begin Monday, Sept. 9, on a dual project to stabilize Amazon Creek and
fix the multi-use Fern Ridge Path between Bertelsen Road and Greenhill Road.
The Amazon Creek bank stabilization project between Bertelsen Road and Royal Avenue is
designed to repair the eroded banks and improve the stream’s ability to convey stormwater.
The bank stabilization project will be immediately followed by a path repair project from
Terry Street to Greenhill Road. The path project will replace broken sections of the concrete path
and make improvements to the path lighting system.
Both projects will be done by Oregon Woods, Inc., of Eugene, under contract to the Eugene
Public Works Department. All project work is scheduled to be substantially completed by mid-
December.
The back-to-back projects will cause several detours, including the closure of the path
between Terry Street and the railroad tracks beginning Tuesday, Sept. 10. Signage will be posted at
critical junctions in the path network to show the current detour in effect.
The $490,000 creek stabilization project is funded by stormwater user fees. The $300,000
path project is funded by a federal grant and local system development fees.
For more information about this and other local road and multi-use path projects, go to
www.keepusmoving.info.
# # #

Public Works Administration ● City of Eugene ● 101 E.
