May 15, 2013

CONTACT: Damon Joyner, Surface Maintenance Supervisor, 541-682-4835

From Public Information Section, 541-682-5523 or 541-954-2938

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Pearl Street Repairs Will Close Block Between 18 and 19 Avenues
thth
A one-block section of Pearl Street between 18 and 19 avenues will be closed to
thth
all traffic for several weeks beginning Monday, May 20.
The closure will allow crews from Eugene Public Works Maintenance to replace the
existing damaged concrete paving with a new concrete surface between 18 Alley and 19
thth
Avenue. The extended closure is necessary to allow enough time for the new concrete to
cure sufficiently to handle traffic loads. Southbound cyclists can detour to Mill Street to
access the Amazon Path.
While the street is closed for concrete repairs, southbound traffic on Pearl Street
will be directed to use alternate routes, such as Willamette Street to the west or Patterson
Street to the east. Access to local businesses will be maintained through driveways and
parking lot entrances along 18 Avenue. Sidewalks and crosswalks will remain open for
th
pedestrian use.
For up-to-date reports on this and other local street repair projects, go to
www.keepusmoving.info.
# # #

Public Works Administration ● City of Eugene ● 101 E.
