October 18, 2012
Barbara Young
2610 Quince Street
Eugene, OR 97404
Dear Barbara,
Parks and Open Space (POS) staff is pleased with the increased activities at Golden
Garden Park this year. Staff continues to observe increased recreational use, positive
habitat changes for wildlife, and increased wildlife species using the pond.
The 2012 season of in -water dog training at Golden Gardens Park resulted in POS
issuing 30 permits to park users from neighboring local and distant cities, including 18
new user permits. The current season will end on Wednesday, October 31, after which
vehicle access inside the park and in -water dog training activities will be prohibited. The
combination lock securing the north gate entrance, off of Clear Lake Road, will be
changed at that time.
POS staff may review Vehicle Access Permit requirements for 2013 in upcoming
months, and any changes will be included in materials sent during the course of issuing
2013 permits.
To request a Vehicle Access Permit for in -water dog training purposes in 2013 will
require a request in writing, similar to your previous requests, and may be submitted at
your convenience beginning in February to Clara Matsler in our office. Contact Clara by
telephone at 541.682.4908 or by email at Cara .t. mats Ier(d)-ci.eugene. or. us .
Enjoy the park over the winter and spring, and thank you for your cooperation and your
consideration to other park users and wildlife these past months.
Sincerely,
Neil Bjorklund
POS Planning Manager
541.682.4909
