Eugene Water & Electric Board <br />Q. LIGHTING <br />(1) Street Lighting <br />(a) Agencies (e.g., City of Eugene, water and lighting districts) shall own their respec- <br />tive street lighting equipment, including dedicated street light poles, circuits, mast <br />arms, switching facilities, luminaires, lamps and ballasts, etc. <br />(b) Agencies shall be responsible for and may perform all work associated with normal <br />operation and maintenance, repair, replacement, removal and new installation of <br />agency lighting systems. <br />EXCEPTION: Agencies and/or their contractors will not be permitted to <br />work on any Board -owned facilities (e.g., making electrical connections/disconnec- <br />tions, repairing, replacing, removing and/or installing equipment on the Board's <br />poles). Work of this nature will be performed only by the Board upon written re- <br />quest from the agencies. <br />Agencies and/or their contractors shall comply with the appropriate safety codes <br />when working near or in the vicinity of the Board's electrical distribution circuits and <br />facilities. <br />(c) By mutual agreement, agencies may contract with the Board for normal operation <br />and maintenance, repair, replacement, removal and installation of street lighting. <br />However, only high - pressure sodium or metal halide lighting systems will be available <br />for replacing existing and installing new street lighting. Written agreements between <br />the agency and the Board shall be required. <br />(d) Agencies shall notify and secure advance approval from the Board for any altera- <br />tion or change of existing or installation of new lighting systems in order to assure the <br />Board's distribution facilities are capable of carrying the electrical load changes and to <br />adjust monthly charges for energy and associated costs. <br />(e) Agencies shall be charged the appropriate monthly rate for energy and associated <br />costs for all existing and new agency lights. (See Electric Section V - Electric Charges & <br />Rates.) Actual costs for all work performed by the Board in paragraphs (b) and (c) above <br />will be billed on a monthly basis. <br />(2) Off - Street, Path and Trail Lighting <br />Agencies shall furnish, install, own and maintain all off - street, path and trail lighting facil- <br />ities. <br />The Board will provide metered electric service to a designated point of delivery in accor- <br />dance with these Policies & Procedures. The Board will not contract for services on metered <br />lighting systems. <br />(3) Private Property Lighting <br />Where practical, the Board shall furnish and install private property lighting in accordance <br />with the L -3 Rate Schedule. (See Electric Section V, Electric Service Charges & Rates.) This type <br />of service is to provide lighting for an individual's private property. Any damage to the <br />luminaire(s) or mast arm(s), or replacement beyond fair wear and tear, may, at the option of the <br />Board, be charged to the customer. Private property lighting is available only on existing utility <br />poles where Board facilities are available. <br />45e REV. 10 -80; 12 -81 <br />
