By state statute, even captive- raised birds are considered wildlife, so a permit is <br />needed to release them and they may only be taken during hunting seasons. Proposed new rules will <br />give dog and raptor trainers a way to lawfully release and take their birds. <br />ODFW staff is scheduled to bring the draft rules before the Fish and Wildlife Commission for rule <br />adoption during the February 4, 2011 meeting in Salem. <br />ODFW will accept public comments on the proposed revised rules at the public meetings.
