MATSLER Clara T
From:
Sent: Friday, May 21, 2010 10:29 AM
To: MATSLER Clara T
Subject: dog training permit
Categories: Medlin
Clara, please buck this over to Johnny. Thanks.
Johnny, I received your letter regarding the cut off of dog training until July 1 st. I will follow your
directive. Found it very interesting that what has been SOP for several years - is now incorrect
because of one random event.
I had a similar thing happen to me as I walked the city property along Amazon "ditch" between Fur
Bute and the Core of Engineers gate at the Fern Ridge property. Having assumed I walked on the
property beyond the gate (which I didn't because my 13 year old was setting the pace and
distance), this CoE lady approached me on the trail and started to give me a lecture on how sensitive
the plants are on the CoE property and I cant walk beyond the gate without a leash. Informing her
that I walked the area 2 times a day for the last 3 years and I read the "leash sign" daily- didn't seem
to make any difference to her. Needless to say, we didn't leave in the good graces of each other. In
our tense discussion, I found out she had been with the Core for 23 years but was new to "gate
management ". I guess she felt it her duty to "set the public straight ".
On more important subjects, I want to get into Coke fishing this year at Odell. Can you recommend a
guide that can take me out and teach me the process? Also, I just bought a small used motor home
and would like to stay in the area for a couple of days. Is there an RV park close to the lake? I could
use a little expert advice when you get a minute and are not dealing with the OSPD /OF &W.
Last item, as a frequent user of Golden Garden (even w/o in water training), I would like to thank you
and the City for the wonderful job of making the park a benchmark place to walk and enjoy the
beautiful outdoors. Job well done!
Good fishing,
John Dutcher
869 Throne Dr.
541 359- 6788
jrdutcher _comcast.net
