Have the causes of ve removal been identified and addressed
2. If livestock g razin g occurs, will fencin off-channel waterin or other g razin g mana strate be used to
protect planted ve
3. How will riparian ve plantin be protected from wildlife? Will the protection measures cause more harm than
g ood to a functions, such as hinderin the construction and maintenance of beaver dams that provide j uvenile fish
rearin habitat?
Cottonwood seedlin were protected with 4' tall it fencin secured in place with metal t-posts. These were made
lar enou to allow trees to g row and g ain substantial size. All other tree seedlin were protected with plastic
seedlin tubes secured with bamboo stakes. All plastic tubes will be removed at the end of two y ears to prevent them
from becomin litter on the landscape as the be to break down. At that point trees will be established enou to
withstand some herbivore dama
4. Is the ve suitable for the site and is the ve indi to the site?
All ve planted is indi to the site and hard enou to stand the relativel harsh conditions of the g ravell y
soil. All In material was of southern Willamette Valle g enetic stock.
5. Is the site suitable for establishin a forested riparian area?
Yes, this is what was there historicall and conditions are such that g iven time a health riparian forest should become
well established.
ii. If a fence is installed, does it protect enou riparian area to restore riparian and stream functions and g ive the
.trewiii c1tattiel roott to tteat4er over titte?
No fencin was installed, aside from that placed around cottonwood seedlin These should not impede riparian
functions since water levels alon the riparian benches at Delta Ponds will rise and lower at a slow rate (with ver little
current).
