<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />September 27, 2011 <br /> <br />CONTACT: <br />Lindsay Selser, City of Eugene Transportation Planning, 541-682-5094 <br />FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br /> <br /> <br />Free Breakfast for People Walking and Biking on the Riverbank Path <br />– Last Breakfast at the Bridges Event of the Season on Friday! <br /> <br />What: Breakfast at the Bridges <br />When: September 30, 2011, 7 to 9:30 a.m. <br />Where: Frohnmayer Bike and Pedestrian Bridge (South side of the river, near UO) <br /> <br />Commuters traveling on the Ruth Bascom Riverbank Path Friday morning will be treated <br />with free bagels, coffee, bike bells, bike safety checks, and bike resources from the City of <br />Eugene. <br />Northwest Community Credit Union is a sponsor of this event and will be on hand with <br />their bike blender making fresh fruit smoothies. Coffee is being provided by Eugene Coffeee <br />Company. A special guest, Toby of Toby’s Family Foods & Genesis Juice will provide free <br />samples of her famous Toby’s Tofu Spread (great with bagels!) and Genesis Organic Juice. <br />Commuters can get all this near the Frohnmayer (formerly Autzen) Bike Bridge on the south <br />side of the river (near University of Oregon off Agate Street or Onyx Street). <br />Breakfast at the Bridges is designed for path users and commuters to grab a quick bite <br />to eat and a cup of coffee, meet City staff, learn more about transportation in Eugene, and get a <br />bicycle safety check all at the same time. <br />Friday’s event is the last of this summer’s signature series celebrating the outdoors and <br />encouraging active transportation – especially walking and bicycling. These activities meet <br />larger community goals, including healthy living, sustainability and a vibrant business <br />community. Breakfast at the Bridges features local advocacy organizations and local <br />businesses who actively work toward these City goals. <br />The event is sponsored by the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee of the City of <br />Eugene, Northwest Community Credit Union, and Eugene Coffee Company.
