The City of Eugene has released a draft Pedestrian and
Bicycle Master Plan and is seeking the public’s guidance to set the course for the future
of Eugene’s walking and bicycling system.
This Plan provides the City of Eugene with the projects and policies necessary to
create a first-class city for bicycling and walking, reduce greenhouse gas emissions
from transportation and provide for a well-designed, integrated, safe and efficient multi-
modal transportation system. The Master Plan will serve as the pedestrian and bicycle
element of the city’s Transportation System Plan.
City staff will present a number of much-anticipated documents including the
draft pedestrian and bicycle system plan and draft policy recommendations. Each
component of the Plan was developed with significant public involvement and refined by
our dedicated Project Advisory Committee and Technical Advisory Committee. The
project team invites the public to review these materials at the open house and let us
know if we’re on the right track for Eugene’s new Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan.
The open house is scheduled for Monday, September 26, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
at the Bascom and Tykeson Rooms in the downtown Eugene Public Library, 100 West
10th Avenue.
For those who cannot attend the open house, the draft plan and a short survey
are available online at www.eugenepedbikeplan.org and the public comment period
ends on October 14. The draft plan will be presented to the City Council on October 12.
# # #

Public Works Administration ● City of Eugene ● 101 E.
