Central Services
Information Services
r MEMORAINIOUM
Date:
To:
From:
Subject:
June 18, 2004
Dennis Taylor, City Manager
Pam Berrian, Franchise Manager, 682-5590
City of Eugene
100 W 10" Avenue
Ste 450
Eugene, Oregon 97401
(541) 682-5070
(541) 682-6899 FAX
www.ci.eugene.or.us
Private Telecommunications Use of City-Owned Street Light
Attached is a contract prepared by Franchise and Public Works staff, Sprint Spectrum, and the City
Attorney which sets out the conditions under which Sprint can co-locate a transmission facility on City
property. The contract is consistent with the policy approved by the City's executive management team.
Sprint is registered as required under Telecommunications Ordinance 20083 and is current in their
telecom tax payments. Under that ordinance, Sprint is not required to pay a rights of way use fee
® (license) when co-locating on an existing facility.
This contract would achieve the City's co-location objectives and earn revenue from the use of City
property. In keeping with City policy, this rental revenue will be allocated to the Fund which supports
the facility.
If you are supportive of the agreement, please sign all originals and return the to Dawna Miller who will
contact me for pick-up. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me at 682-5590.
Thank you for your consideration.
cc: Jim Carlson, Assistant City Manager
