This is usually not an
issue, however there is nice rock mulch laid on the surface, that will be difficult
to keep clean while trying to plant trees in it without getting the rocks all
muddy.
The road was closed during construction and landscaping. I feel it would been
nice to have had the opportunity to plant the trees then. 1 was never informed
of any timeline to plant while streets were closed. I would have been able to
pull my truck and trailer next to the planting sites instead of having to dolly
trees that weighed 300 pounds hundreds of yards. I would alsol have been able
to use my equipment from the street side of the tree to prevent getting mud on
the sidewalks.
If the trees were planted along with the landscape installation, then we
wouldn't have the mud problem that we have now. I understand that this may
not have been possible because the trees couldn't be dug before the streets
opened. But if the trees were 1.35" caliper then I could have gotten them in
pots and planted them earlier.
Don't get me wrong, I understand that the trees to be planted for the city will
not always be easy locations to plant. Planting 2" trees in this muddy situation
is much more difficult than if they were smaller.
We are fully capable of planting the trees than are being requested. larger
trees just take more time and effort to plant, and are much more expensive to
buy.
