0
~, SSu S Trees LLC
P.O. Box 234
Walterville, OR 97489
541747-2928
January 6, 2010
This is a letter regarding tree planting on Chad Dr. and abutting streets.
Before reading this letter please read the letter dated December 24, 2009.
We would like to request a price change for the tree planting service on this project.
Typically when we plant trees in bulk (many trees in one location) we are able to go quite
efficiently. When planting 1.35" caliper trees it takes minutes to correctly plant each tree.
Several trees can be planted over the span of an hour.
We have planted 42 of the trees so far on this project, and because of the issues in the
previous letter, we have averaged 1.25 trees per hour and we haven't gotten into the bio-
swales yet which will slow us down a bit.
The question is, what is fair to charge the city to install these trees. I would like to point
out that this project is taking us 4 times longer to plant as on typical street tree plantings for
the City of Eugene. However, I can't justify a 4 fold increase in price.
If the price were $145 to plant each tree, this would be a fair price for the city and our
company.
Thank you,
Jason Stein
I.S.A.
