FS Agreement 1 05 -MU- 11061810 -030 <br />Cooperator's No. <br />MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING <br />between <br />USDA FOREST SERVICE, WILLAMETTE NATIONAL FOREST <br />U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS <br />OREGON PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT <br />LANE COUNTY PARKS <br />CITY OF EUGENE <br />CITY OF LOWELL <br />CITY OF OAKRIDGE <br />EUGENE TO PACIFIC CREST TRAIL ORGANIZATION <br />Concerning <br />EUGENE TO PACIFIC CREST TRAIL <br />This MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING is hereby entered into by and <br />between the above - captioned parties concerning the Eugene to Pacific Crest Trail. <br />A. PURPOSE: The purpose of this Memorandum of Understanding is to provide a <br />general framework for cooperation and coordination between the parties concerning the <br />development and maintenance of the Eugene to Pacific Crest Trail. As such, this <br />Memorandum of Understanding can provide useful background about the general intent <br />of the parties in the event one or more of the parties should execute other documents <br />concerning the Eugene to Pacific Crest Trail, such as contracts, grants, or other <br />agreements for specific management projects or actions. <br />B. STATEMENT OF MUTUAL BENEFIT AND INTERESTS: All the parties to this <br />Memorandum of Understanding recognize that the Eugene to Pacific Crest Trail can and <br />will enhance social and economic opportunities in the rural communities connected by <br />the Eugene to Pacific Crest Trail. The parties also recognize the contribution that the <br />Eugene to Pacific Crest Trail can and will make to the recreational opportunities <br />available in the Upper Willamette Region. By entering into this Memorandum of <br />Understanding, the parties demonstrate not only their support for community stability, <br />but also their support to the work of the Eugene to Pacific Crest Trail Organization in its <br />efforts to complete the trail to enhance recreational opportunities in the Upper Willamette <br />Region. <br />
