' 6.1 Funding Options
As shown at the end of Table 10, full deployment of communications projects to support the
City's existing and planned traffic signals and ITS devices will cost approximately $9.5 million.
The City's Telecommunications Registration /Licensing Fund and the Oregon Statewide
Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) are the two main options available for funding the
communications projects included in this plan. The City allocates funding for
telecommunications projects on an annual basis to support the City's infrastructure. The STIP
allocates federal and state funding within Oregon over a four -year period and is updated every
two years. Money from the City's Telecommunications Fund may be used when a local match is
required for federal or state funding. Projects that include communications connections to City
facilities may also be eligible for support from other City funding programs.
DKS Associates Eugene Master Traffic Communications Plan March 2008
'
Page 42
