Plantings will be focused on <br />locations that do not presently support any woody vegetation. <br />The planting of willow cuttings is a requirement under the City's NPDES permit. <br />At the project sites in the future, the mature willows will be manually pruned and managed to <br />maintain stormwater conveyance, in the same manner that existing mature willows are currently <br />managed. <br />Some manual /mechanical control of blackberries immediately prior to willow planting is included this <br />contract, only for the purpose of gaining access to the planting sites. This will be a one -time <br />treatment of the blackberries and will constitute a relatively minor proportion•of the cost of the <br />project. <br />Work under this contract will begin in November, 2010 and continue through March, 2011.
