August 26, 2010

CONTACT:
Doug Singer, Project Manager, 541-682-8460

From Public Information Section, 541-682-5523 or 541-954-2938
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Traffic Advisory
th
Roadwork Continues on West 18; Watch for Closure at Arthur Street
Expect delays and street closures as road repairs continue on the seven-block section of
th
West 18 Avenue between City View and Chambers streets.
Crews from Knife River, working under contract for the Eugene Public Works
Department, are scheduled to repave the south half of roadway this week and then move to the
th
north half of 18 Avenue next week. Traffic will be shifted into narrow lanes on the south half of
the street, and the north half of the intersections of Cleveland, Arthur, Garfield, Hayes and Grant
streets will be closed to all traffic for one week.
th
Meanwhile, concrete pavement is being replaced in sections of West 18 east of
Chambers under the Westmoreland Park bike bridge. This also requires shifting traffic into
narrow lanes.
th
Throughout the project area, east- and west-bound traffic on 18 Avenue will be
maintained, but drivers should expect delays and use alternate routes when possible. Work
hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., with an early morning concrete pour anticipated on Wednesday or
Thursday. The project is anticipated to be completed in late September.
For updates on these and other roadwork projects in the Eugene area, go to
www.eugene-or.gov/traffic or call the Metro Roadwork Hotline at 541-984-8484.
# # #

Public Works Administration ● City of Eugene ● 101 E.
