i
zi
a division of Public Works
1820 Roosevelt Blvd.
Eugene, Oregon 97402
Memorandum
Date: August 18, 2010
To: Jon R. Ruiz, City Manager
cc: Kurt, Corey, Public Works Director
Johnny Medlin, Director, Parks and Open Space Division
From: Richard Zucker
Subject: One -year Extension of Hazardous Tree Removal
Contract Number 2010 -05302
(541) 682 -4800
(541) 682 -4882 Fax
www.ci.eugene.or.us/parks
This is to a request approval for a one -year extension of the contract that we currently
have with CTS, Inc. for the removal of public trees that are assessed to be hazardous
because of their health or condition. This will be the first extension of this contract.
This contract enables us to manage the urban forest more effectively by providing the
needed resources to remove hazardous trees in a timely manner so as to protect public
safety. Attached are the current contractor rates and the rates proposed for the extension
period.
Although the new rates are significantly higher, they are still well within market value and
less than the rates that we paid our previous contractor more than a year ago. Thank you.
Attachment: Contract Amendment #3 — 2010 -05302
