As outlined in the Request for Release of Funds
and the Expenditure Tracking sheet, we are requesting a reimbursement of $45,376.45. Our
total grant award was $204,368 and we were previously reimbursed for $111,328.53.
Therefore, after this current reimbursement, we will have $93,880.48 in grant funds
remaining.
Between July 1, 2009 and June 30, 2010 activities under this grant fell into four categories:
(1) watering, maintenance, and inspection of trees and shrubs that were in 2009, (2)
weed control on approximately 12 acres, (3) planting of native trees and shrubs on 12 acres,
and (4) control of nutria to reduce damage on new plantings.
In September 2009, we carried out plant inspections to determine percent survival of those
trees and shrubs that were planted in January/February 2009. Survival rates were very high,
although we did require the contractor to replant some species to meet contractually agreed
upon survival rates. The results of the plant inspections are attached. In addition, phowpoint
monitoring was conducted in September 2009. The before and after photos from these
monitoring efforts are also attached.
A fair amount of work remains under this grant, including the maintenance, watering, and
inspection of both the 2009 and 2010 plantings, planting additional areas in 2011,
supplementary invasive species control, and a second round of nutria control to reduce the
herbivory on our new plantings. A final project completion report and final reimbursement
request will be submitted to Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board by Nov. 30, 2011.
We are grateful to the Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board for supporting this project. We
remain committed to continuing our stewardship of this project and ensuring that the benefits
are maintained and enhanced through time. Thank you kindly for your support.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 541- 682 -4925.
Sincerely,
Lauri Holts
Natural Resources Enhancement Coordinator Ge SV 8ll (cC4
Parks and Open Space Division
