Public Works
Maintenance Division
City of Eugene
1820 Roosevelt Blvd.
MEMORANDUM Eugene, Oregon 97402
(541)682-4800
{541)682-4882 FAX
www.eugene-or.gov
Date: May 13, 2010
To: Tom Larsen, City Traffic Engineer
From: Steve Gallup, Traffic Technical Supervisor
Subject: OBEC Contract -Ferry Street Bridge Corridor Joint Repairs
Attached is the contract to hire OBEC Consulting Engineers for engineering and construction
services to repair damage joints in the Ferry Street Bridge (FSB) corridor. Recently, OBEC
completed a joint survey identifying damaged areas that need to be repaired or replaced in the
FSB corridor. OBEC will provide the anticipated project management. preliminary engineering
(design), and construction engineering (inspection) services needed for the work. The cost
estimate for OBEC services is around $10,000.
After the City receives final copies of the plans, specifications, and estimate (PS&E) documents
from OBEC, the City will prepare a contract to obtain the services of a low bidder contractor to
perform the construction work. Included in OBEC's contract is the service to perform
construction inspections related to the contractors work. Now that Operating funds have been
identified, I recommend the City enter into a contract with OBEC to perform the engineering and
construction services for this phase of the project.
P~}ge 1 of 1
