Public Works
Administration
May 7, 2010
Mr. Alex Weaver
Office of Representative Greg Walden
Rayburn House Office Building
Room 2352
United States Congress
Washington, DC 20515
Dear Alex:
City of Eugene
101 East Broadway, Suite 400
Eugene, Oregon 97401-3174
(541)682-8421
(541)682-6826 FAX
www.eugene-or.gov
Thank you for taking the time to meet with me when I was in Washington, DC on April 28. As a
member of the American Public Works Association (APWA), I appreciated the opportunity to
discuss the organization's legislative priorities with you, which include increased investment in
water and wastewater infrastructure, full funding for emergency management and
preparedness, and increased investment in transportation.
APWA stands ready to assist you by offering our experience and expertise as Congress
addresses our nation's growing public works needs. Working in the public interest, our more
than 29,000 members plan, design, build, operate and maintain the nation's vast public
infrastructure -the transportation, water supply, sewage and refuse disposal systems, public
buildings and other structures and facilities essential to our nation's economy and way of life.
Again, thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to working with you on these
important issues, and please do not hesitate to call upon me or upon APWA to provide
information, support and testimony by contacting me at kurt.a.corev~ci.eupene.or.us or (541)
682-8421. Please also feel free to contact APWA's Washington office at (202) 408-9541.
Sincerely,
Kurt Corey, P.E.
Public Works Director
City of Eugene
SCANNED~yyA
DATE⢠
