Supplemental Budget One-Time Dollar (1X$) REQUEST FORM
TO: Budget Office
Department: Public Works
Executive Manager Signature:
1. Description of 1X$ Request/Justification: (attach additional pages as needed)
Please include the source of funds supporting the request and the specific project which requires
completion. (ex: Request 1 X$ from unspent resources to implement new technology that will incur
longer term savings of $x per year.)
This request.is for funding to perform roof repairs on the Fleet Services vehicle maintenance building
located at 1820 Roosevelt Blvd.
Due to the existing deteriorated condition of the primary Fleet Maintenance building roof surface, a
comprehensive maintenance and repair is required to ensure weather integrity and cessation of further
structural damage from water leakage. Project completion is being targeted for the fall of 2010, prior to
the upcoming winter season. The existing Fleet maintenance building was constructed in the 1940's.
Replacement of the Fleet maintenance building is part of the FY 12 CIP list, but is currently an unfunded
project.
This is requesting the repairs be paid from the balance available in the Fleet Services Operations Fund.
The fund's current balance available is $542,000, which covers approximately 1 month of operating
expenditures. Decreasing the fund's balance available by approximately half will increase the exposure of
the fund to other large unexpected financial obligations, with the largest risk being a substantial increase
in fuel prices. Further large financial impacts to the Fleet Fund would most likely require an increase in
future fleet rates.
This building serves as the primary repair and maintenance shop for all City owned vehicles and rolling
stock equipment. Failure to make the repairs will result in further deterioration of this aging roof
structure and allow continued water leakage onto the shop floor work areas.
2.
