<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />February 25, 2010 <br /> <br />CONTACT: <br />Jenifer Willer, Project Manager, 541-682-5364 <br /> <br />From Public Information Section, 541-682-5523 or 541-954-2938 <br />FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br /> <br />Road Construction Resumes in Crest Drive Area <br />Construction is scheduled to resume Monday, March 1, to a two-year project to improve <br />streets in the Crest Drive area. <br />In 2009, crews from Delta Construction, working under contract to the City of Eugene <br />Public Works Department, rebuilt Crest Drive from Lincoln Street to Storey Boulevard. That <br />work was completed in late fall, and over the winter utility companies relocated their lines in <br />preparation for the next phase of construction, which will improve portions of Friendly Street, <br />Storey Boulevard and the remainder of Crest Drive to Blanton Road. <br />The first stage of the 2010 work will focus on the upper section of Storey Boulevard. <br />Crews have put up signage, installed erosion control measures, placed orange plastic fencing to <br />protect trees, and put mailboxes in temporary supports that can be moved during construction. <br /> Starting March 1 the crews will begin clearing roadside brush and removing the existing <br />street asphalt. As part of this work, the contractor will use a pavement sawcutting machine to <br />cut a line at each driveway. <br />Through traffic should use alternate routes to avoid construction delays.
