June 17, 2009
CONTACT:
Sarah Thorpe, Transportation Planning Intern, 682-5378
From Public Information Section, 682-2739
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Breakfast at the Bridges Kickoff Event-Amazon Path June 19th
The City of Eugene will be hosting its second annual Breakfast at the Bridges starting
this month on Friday, June 19th from 7:00 am to 9:30 am at the Amazon bike path at Amazon
and 24th. The event will include free breakfast, bike safety and other information from both the
City of Eugene and GEARs, free bike bells installed on bikes, and bike safety checks and tune
ups provided by Collin’s Cycle Shop. This is the first Breakfast at the Bridges for the summer.
The event will continue through the summer on the third Friday of every month.
Breakfast at the Bridges is designed for bike path users and commuters to stop by on
their way to work, grab a quick bite to eat and a cup of coffee, meet City Staff, learn more about
biking in Eugene, and get a quick safety check all at the same time. On June 19th, City of
Eugene Staff will also be providing information on the upcoming Amazon Path Rehabilitation
project that will be occurring on the Amazon path this summer, beginning in July. Construction
will rehabilitate Amazon Path from 19th to 31st avenues, which has numerous cracks due to
unstable, expansive-clay subsurface that was built in the 1970s. Information on the path project
and alternate routes during construction will be provided during this event.
Thanks to all who have donated for this event: Collin’s Cycle Shop, Wandering Goat
Coffee Company, Bagel Sphere, Springfield Creamery, and GEARs.
For additional information, please contact Sarah Thorpe at 682-5378 or
Sarah.D.Thorpe@ci.eugene.or.us.
