November 20, 2008
Contact:
Cathryn Stephens, Director of Marketing and Public Relations
cathryn.e.stephens@ci.eugene.or.us, 682-5430
Holiday Travel Tips
The holiday travel season is here and officials with the Eugene Airport are offering
some tips to prepare travelers. By being prepared and planning plenty of time to
check-in and get through security; travelers through the Eugene Airport can help
make their trip go smoothly.
Again this year there is an emphasis by the Transportation Security Administration to
educate passengers about what can and cannot be brought through security
screening checkpoints. The 3-1-1 rules allow 3-ounce or smaller containers of liquid
or gel; one quart-size, clear plastic, zip-top bag holding 3-ounce or smaller
containers; and one bag per traveler placed in the security bin.
While it may sound funny, passengers should be aware that some Thanksgiving
dinner favorites will not be allowed through the checkpoint. Here’s a list of some
holiday-related items that can be shipped ahead or be placed checked bags, but
cannot be carried on the plane:
Gravy Salad dressing Oils and vinegars
Cranberry sauce Salsa Other sauces
Maple syrup Creamy dips Wines, liquor, and beer
Other beverages Jams and jellies Soups
-More-
