Here are a few other tips to help streamline holiday travel:
TWO HOURS
Plan on arriving before your scheduled flight time if you are
catching a flight on the two days before Christmas Eve or the three days after
Christmas. Christmas Eve and Christmas day are lighter travel days, so
arriving 90-minutes ahead should be fine on those days.
ONLINE.
Check-in Passengers may check-in online 24 hours prior to their
departure and print their boarding passes at home. Often ticket agents will
move online check-in passengers to a different line if they still need to check
bags which, speeds up the process.
BOARDING PASSVALID GOVERNMENT PHOTO ID.
Remember your and
You must have these two things to enter the security checkpoint.
DO NOT WRAP GIFTS.
Security officers will un-wrap gifts if they need to
inspect a package. Please wrap gifts after arriving at your destination.
PACK AN ORGANIZED CARRY-ON BAG USING LAYERS.
A layer of
clothes, then electronics, more clothes, and then any heavier items. This will
help transportation security officers see what’s in your bag. Innocent items can
actually appear to be potential threats in an X-ray image, simply by the way
they’re packed. The Transportation Security Administration website has the
most up-to-date information on security screening requirements and banned
items at http://www.tsa.gov/travelers.
DRESS THE PART.
Transportation security officers have to identify any metal
that is detected at the checkpoint. To make screening go faster place coins,
keys, jewelry, belt buckles and other metal items in your carry-on until you pass
through security. Shoes, blazers, suit coats, bulky sweaters and outer wear
must be removed when going through screening.
-More-
