CaredlellC)~'1t PCIf'~: Draft Development Plar
May 2004
G+~ANGES TO T~4-IE PLAN
SINCE T+~E APRIL 14T~1 PUBIC MEETING
* All sidewalks have been increased to 7' width.
* The rest room has been moved north of the playground area.
* A shrub bed has been added between the playground area and the
public street. Plant materials need to be kept low for visibility, but
should be large enough to form a barrier.
* Trees were eliminated from the middle of the dog off leash area
to provide an open meadow for "fetch" and running. Trees are shown
around the perimeter of the dog park to provide shade along the
paths and for bench seating.
* Four to six post lights will be placed in and around the activity
area for security.
* The dog off leash area has been enclosed by a perimeter fence
to provide safety along Royal Avenue, and reduce conflict between
dogs and joggers.
* The open waterway channel has been nudged closer to the
playground area where possible. As a result of the channel
modification, the large turf play mound has been modified to form
several mounds closer to the playground area.
* More than one half an acre has been added to the dog off leash
area as a result of (1) adjusting the alignment of the open water
channel, and (2) relocating the jogging trail from the western park
boundary to beside the open water channel. A modest setback of
approximately 30' has been retained along Royal Avenue..
* Formal benches along the back side of the park and along the
water channel have been changed to natural groupings of basalt
boulders that can be used for seating. Traditional bench seating has
been retained in key areas in other parts of the park.
* The two small picnic shelters in the plaza have been replaced by
one medium size picnic shelter.
* The stormwater detention basin feature has been shifted closer to
the public street.
* "LifeWise" exercise stations have been shown on the east and
south sides of the open play field. They represent a concept of
providing exercise opportunities for the elderly and handicapped.
* Landscaped shrub beds have been added along the park's frontage
on Royal and Throne Drive. -Placed at entry points, they will help to
provide color, form, and texture interest for the park users.
