ADM11~tISTRATIVE ORDER N0.58-96-20
of the
Executive Director of the Public Works Department
RESCINDING ADMI1~tISTRATIVE ORDER N0. 58-96-18 ISSUED ON
AUGUST 30, 1996 ORDERING THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF
SCOBERT PARK. ,
The Executive Director of the Public Works Department finds that:
A. On August 30, 1996, I issued Administrative Order No. 58-96-18 ordering the
temporary closure of Scobert Park, located at 1180 West 4th Avenue, within the City of Eugene,
effective from 12:01 a.m. on September 9, 1996 until December 1, 1996.
B. As indicated in the order, the. closure was prompted in part in response to a
neighborhood petition supported by .the Whiteaker Community Council's Executive Board
requesting the closure because the park was becoming a haven for illegal activities and creating an
unsafe and unfit atmosphere for residents:of the area, and to address City staff concerns with respect,
to the abuse existing park vegetation'has sustained.
C. Subsequent to issuance of the order, residents of the area have requested that the park
. remain open while the City and residents conduct a study with respect to its future use and/or
temporary closure, and I find it would be in the public interest to rescind Administrative Order No.
58-96-18 closing Scobert Park pending completion of that study.
Now, therefore, based onthe above findings, which are hereby adopted,
• `It is hereby ordered that Administrative Order No. 58-96-18 issued on August 30, 1996
ordering the temporary closure of Scobert Park, is hereby rescinded.
Dated this ~ day of September, 1996.
Executive Director
Public Works Department
. Administrative Order
