and operations, as well as ensuring that all City-owned facilities placed within the public <br />way have as-constructed drawings completed and submitted to the Engineering Division <br />for record and mapping purposes. <br />2.G PERMITS DURING PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS <br />Utility installation or relocation within the public way being performed concurrently with <br />public infrastructure improvement and cons#ruction projects shall require a permit prior to <br />commencement of utility work. <br />2.G.'! City Engineered and Administered Projects <br />For permit work conducted in conjunction with City engineered or administered projects, <br />the Utility Inspector will verify that a utility right-of--way permit has been issued and that the <br />Engineering Division project manager assigned to the project is supplied copies of all <br />issued permits and associated plans. The Utility Inspector will perform inspections and <br />respond to all locate requests required during contract construction projects administered <br />by the City until such time as the Engineering Division assigned personnel are on site. <br />After Engineering personnel are on site, they will be responsible for any required utility <br />inspections and locates until substantial completion of the project. After substantial <br />completion, when assigned Engineering personnel are no longer on site, the Utility <br />Inspector will again be responsible. Substantial completion for projects that include street <br />work will be completion of the final paving. Substantial completion for projects not <br />involving street work will be determined by the Engineering project manager.. <br />The Engineering Division project manager shall notify the Utility Inspector in writing (by <br />memorandum or electronic mail) whenever utility inspection and locate responsibilities for <br />a project transfer to Engineering personnel (when an Engineering inspector is assigned to <br />on-site inspection) and-when responsibilities transfer back to the Utility Inspector (upon <br />substantial project completion). At the time of project substantial completion, the Utility <br />Inspector shall be provided documentation of all field design changes in underground <br />facilities which occurred during the construction project. The Utility Inspector may be <br />required to respond to locate requests after the project is completed but prior to availability <br />of as-constructed drawings. <br />The inspection for any utility facilities relocation which was performed due to the City's <br />contract construction project but which lies outside the limits of the construction project <br />shall be the responsibility of the Utility Inspector. <br />2.G.2 Priva#ely Engineered Public Improvement Projects <br />Provisions for utility permits and inspection for City engineered and administered projects <br />shall apply to privately engineered public improvement projects with the exception that <br />Engineering Division personnel inspec# only utility crossings installed concurrent with <br />public improvements inspected by the Engineering inspector.
