Upon receiving the notice ofi commencement for the proposed work, the Utility Inspector <br />could endeavor to meet with.the contractor's representative in charge of the construction <br />at or before the commencement of the work covered by the permit. At this time, the - <br />methods and planned sequence of the operations should be discussed, unanswered <br />questions resolved, and agreement obtained on preexisting damages to facilities already <br />in place.. <br />The Utility Inspector will periodically monitor operations performed by the contractor to see <br />#hat work is performed according to the permit conditions. The work must strictly conform <br />#o the approved plans. Any changes in the proposed facility from that shown on the <br />approved permit.must have the rp for consent of the Utility Inspector. if afield-change is <br />approved' by the Utility Inspector, the permiee shall submit modified permit drawings <br />which document the change.. The Utility Inspector may require the permittee to apply for a <br />new permit if the requested change cannot be resolved by a field. decision. EC-7.305' (1) <br />The Utility Inspector may require changes in construe#ion technique or workmanship if <br />hazardous conditions are present and may halt construction if it does not conform to the <br />approved. drawings. EC 7.305 (3) <br />3.D PROTECTIVE MEASURES AND ROUTING OF TRAFFIC <br />-he permittee shah comply wi#h all City traffic control standards including latest editions of <br />Part VI of the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Con#rol Devices (MUTCD), the Oregon <br />.Department of Transportation's Short Term Traffic Control Handbook and the City of <br />Eugene Work Zone Traffic Control Standards Supalement, and as specified in Section 202 <br />of the Standard Specifications. <br />.._ <br />NOTE: Bicycle lanes are considered legal#ravel lanes herein and must be <br />accommodated as such.: <br />It shall be'the duty of any person cutting or making an excavation in or upon any public <br />place to establish and. maintain barriers and warning devices necessary for the safety of <br />the workers and the general.public. The Utility Inspector may review the permittee's <br />placement`of these_barriers and warning devices. When, in the judgement of the Utility.,. <br />Inspector, additional barricades or warning devices are necessary,. he/she shall so inform <br />the permittee and the permittee shall take prompt action to comply. <br />3.E LANE CLOSURES, WORKING TIME, AND PARKING' RESTRICTIONS <br />Written approval from Transportation Division personnel is required for a permittee either <br />to close a street travel lane or restrict parking on either an .arterial stree# or within the <br />..downtown core area. The downtown core-area is defined as that area ;bordered on-the <br />North by 5th Ave., on the South by 13th Ave_, on the East by High St.'and on the West by . <br />Lincoln St_ A copy of the written authorization must be at the work site all times the <br />closure or restriction is in effect.
