MEMO
Public Works
Wastewater Division
RANDUM
Date: September 13, 1999
To: Mayor Torrey and Ciry Council
From:. Peter Ruffier, Wastewater Division Director
Subject: Proposed Increase in the MWMC Septage User Fees
City of Eugene
410 River Avenue
Eugene, Oregon 97404
(541) 682-8600
(541) 682-8601 FAX
Attached for your review is the notice of an intended increase in the user fees for mobile waste haulers
(primarily septic tank wastes). At the August 18, 1999 meeting of the Metropolitan Wastewater
Management Commission the Commissioners approved a policy to set septage rates at a "market" level
that reflects the typical costs charged for septage treatment by peer wastewater agencies in the state of
Oregon. The Commission also adopted a new user rate of $80 per thousand gallons for the disposal of
septage wastes at the regional Eugene/Springfield Water Pollution Control Facility. The existing rate is
$67 per thousand gallons.
Copies of both the Administrative Order and the Public Notice for the new rate will be posted at City
Hall and at the Eugene/Springfield Water Pollution Control Facility. All interested parties have been
notified according to the policy and procedure for administrative orders. Any written comments or
requests for additional information should be directed to my attention at 410 River Avenue, Eugene OR
97404 by September 30, 1999.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions at 682-8606.
