NOTICE OF INTENDED INCREASE IN MWMC SEPTAGE USER FEES <br />To: The Mayor and City Councilors of the City of Eugene, and other interested persons. <br />NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that pursuant to the provisions of Section 6.411, and consistent with the provisions <br />of Section 2.020 of the Eugene Code, 1971, Administrative Order No. 58-96-10-F was issued by the City Manager Pro Tem of <br />the City of Eugene on May 23, 1996, establishing monthly sewer user fees effective July 1, 1996. <br />The City Manager has investigated the City's current revenue needs and cost of operation of the City's wastewater <br />service system and reviewed the recommendation of the Metropolitan Wastewater Management Commission (MWMC), and has <br />proposed to increase the septage user charge for MWMC wastewater service as hereinafter set forth. The.proposed increase is <br />a one-year surcharge to be added to the current per thousand gallon (kgal) septic rate for FY99 to recoup the estimated cost of <br />septage facility improvements. MWMC approved the fee increase on April 22, 1998, as part of their FY99 budget adoption <br />process. <br />The current monthly rates charged for all other wastewater services, regional wastewater treatment service, and the rates <br />for stormwater service to be effective on all bills issued on or after July 1, 1998, within the City of Eugene's service area for such <br />services both inside and outside the City of Eugene will remain in effect. <br />RATE COMPONENT CURRENT RATE PROPOSED RATE <br />SEPTAGE HAULERS: <br />City of Eugene: No Charge No Charge <br />MWMC Sanitary Sewer Fee: <br />Flow Rate/1,000 gal. $57.694 $57.694 <br />One-year surcharge for septage 10.145 <br />facility improvements $67.839 <br />Persons desiring to comment hereon may submit written comments to the City Manager Pro Tem, at the address <br />indicated below, within 15 days from the first date of publication and posting as indicated hereon, or at a public hearing to be held <br />in the Public Works Department, 858 Pearl Street, Eugene, Oregon 97401 on June 17th, 1998, from 11:30am to 1:30 pm. The <br />City. Manager Pro Tem will consider the comments received and by administrative order establish the charges as proposed or as <br />modified in response to comments, after the expiration of the period for comment. <br />The meeting location iswheelchair-accessible. For the deaf or hard of hearing, an interpreter or assistive listening system can be <br />provided with 48 hours' notice. Spanish-language interpretation will also be provided with 48 hours' notice.
