____ <br />Denise Giard has joined the department as Deputy Chief for Ad- <br />ministrative Services & Support. Chief Giard holds Master's <br />degrees in Public Administration and Business Administration, <br />and a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Mas- <br />sachusetts. She is also a graduate of the National Fire Acad- <br />emy's Executive Fire Officer Program. <br />Her fire service career spans thirty-two years, twenty-three of <br />which have been managing emergency medical service (EMS) <br />operations for the Albany Fire Department and Corvallis Fire <br />Department. Chief Giard has a strong EMS background and <br />served as a Paramedic, an Infection Control Officer, Quality As- <br />surance Coordinator, EMS Training Officer, Health Insurance <br />Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy Officer and an Ambulance <br />Billing Compliance Officer. <br />In addition to supervising the department's EMS, Logistics, Finance, Planning, and the Ambu- <br />lance Billing functions, Chief Giard is in charge of the Ambulance Transport System funding <br />and stabilization plan, construction plans for a new fire station at the Eugene Airport, and strate- <br />gicpartnerships. <br />The. third division under the reorganization is Special Operations, <br />Training, and Prevention, headed by Deputy Chief Joe Zaludek. <br />With 22 years of fire and emergency medical services experience <br />and 19 years as a Paramedic, Chief Zaludek has had the opportu- <br />nity to serve the Eugene Fire & EMS Department in the positions <br />of Firefighter, Engineer, Lieutenant, Captain, Training Captain, <br />District Chief and Training Chief.
