Comments and Responses, September 27, 2000 Public Hearing in Springfield
T29.3-Comment acknowledged
T29.4-Figure 17 of the draft EIS
erroneously shows the proposed
federal courthouse situated on the
southern portion of the Riverfront
site. This figure has been revised
in the final EIS to show the
currently proposed location of the
facility on the Riverfront site,
consistent with the footprint
shown in Figure 12 and the photo-
simulation shown in Figure 18 of
the draft EIS. As currently
envisioned, if the Riverfront site is
selected, the new federal
courthouse would be situated on
the northern portion of the site.
TranseMpt 2
13
~,p i n very, vary positive fashion.
contl. 2 The connectivity fa there. IL's wnikabte, it's
3 driveable, tt'e visually connected. 8o when you eiu on the
4 river front cite, you actually daysloD both sides of the river.
T29.3 S If you look at the connectivity to a Mill race.
8 the city is involved with the planning process right now with
T the core of engineers that fa examining a Hill race thnt dews
8 bnck to 1860.
9 And that's going to be developed with the Cienn
10 Mater Act and the restoration of aalnon and fish, I think, make
It that a very. very spoeinl part of Lhe ambiance and ttw
12 geographic environment of this site,
T29d 13 Nhen I )poked at your EIS report and I looked
14 at Lho Figure t2, whleh illustrates the various suss, and I
16 was realty interested in the Aver front alts, eo I looked at
16 your a1iAMOLa number 1. And you nave a fOOtprlnt On each orw
i7 of these sitar.
i8 And when I look at your pathetic waiuetlon. 2
19 see two photogrnDha, one tram a northeast corner and orw from
20 a eOYLheseL COrner. Both Of those DfiOLographa and your
2i modeling, because you hnd a three-dimenslonnl modal that you
22 superimposed on n photograph, would intlicate that this building
23 fills tM giro.
24 Mhen I looked at it fnfLiallY. I thought You
25 worn showing tFw footprint of a building that did Indeed fit
Final EIS 272 New Federal Courthouse
