Prioritization Exercise
Workshop participants were asked to prioritize the projects by identifying their top 2 priority
improvements. Each participant was given an orange dot (1St priority) and a green dot (2"d
priority) to place next to the projects listed on the wallgraphic at the front of the room. The dots
help to understand which projects have significant or demonstrated support from workshop
participants.
Participants showed strong support for the following projects:
^ Ballfields
^ Natural resource improvements
^ Dog park improvements
^ Restrooms
The following projects also received support:
^ Bike and pedestrian access improvements
^ Jogging trail improvements
^ Unprogrammed open space
^ Tennis court improvements.
^ Amazon Pool winterization
^ Bridges
^ Play area upgrades
The following projects received no dots,. but will still be considered as potential components for.
either park improvements, future planning goals, or current management improvements:
^ Picnic area upgrades
^ Interpretive facilities
^ Park acquisition
^ Aesthetic upgrades
^ Community garden
It should be noted that there was no support voiced for lighting ballfields, or for providing
additional paved parking.
Next Steps
Staff are synthesizing the results of the first workshop in order to develop an initial park
development program for Amazon Park. Objectives for the program include:
o Identifying which type and size of ballfield is most needed in this location.
^ Identify and provide information on potential creek and wetland enhancement projects.
^ Address parking and access issues.
^ Develop package of improvements addressing identified priorities for further public review.
A second public workshop will be held to present the initial plan to community members.
