The City
Council continues to look for ways to generate additional revenue for
street repairs.
Equipment Reserves Created
This year, the Budget Committee earmarked $400,000 a year to pay
for equipment used for General Fund operations. Although for many
years the General Fund has made annual installments to replace vehicles
and facilities, this additional payment will provide money to buy major
equipment including radios, core business software and firefighter and
police gear. This method of funding spreads the cost of equipment over
several years, avoids balloon payments and sets the foundation for a
stable spending pattern.
Mike Clark
Ward 5
I care a great deal about Eugene's livability and I know you do, too. Much has been done
this year, but I believe we can accomplish even more if we work together.
After some previous work on the Budget Committee, I was proud to see the early re-
opening ofthe Valley River Fire Station this year. This was one of the council's priority
goals for 2006 and today people all over Eugene are safer.
I will consider my time on the council a success if we can make progress on a few other issues.
These include finding a solution to the traffic problems at Delta and Beltline as well as in west
Eugene, making a dent in our $ 103 million backlog of deferred road maintenance, creating a final
plan for along-promised community park in Santa Clara and increasing public safety efforts.
I look forward to working for you and with you.
Contacting the Mayor and City Councilors
• Correspcndence may be sent to the City Manager's Office at 777 Pearl Street, Room 105, Eugene, Oregon
97401, fazed to (541) 682-5414, or emailetl to mayorandcc@ci.eugene.or.us.
• City Council meetings are held at 7,30 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays of each month,
Public Hearings are held at 7,30 p.m. on the third Monday of each month.
City Council work sessions are held at 5:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays, and at noon on the
second, third, fourth, and fifth Wednesdays of each month.
• City Council agendas and supporting summary materials are published on the City's Web site by 5 p.m.
on the Friday preceding the next week's meetings,
Agenda items are subject to change before and during the meeting.
