We will <br />ensure that every person can achieve financial security, enjoy the fruits of their labor, and operate within <br />a sustainable economic structure where business thrives. <br />SAFE COMMUNITY <br />A community where people feel safe, valued, and welcome <br />SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT <br />A community that meets its present environmental, economic, and social needs without <br />compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs <br />ACCESSIBLE AND THRIVING CULTURE AND RECREATION <br />A community that recognizes that the arts and outdoors are integral to the social and <br />economic well-being of the community and should be available to all <br />EFFECTIVE, ACCOUNTABLE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT <br />A government that works openly, collaboratively, and fairly with the community to <br />achieve measurable and positive outcomes <br />FAIR, STABLE AND ADEQUATE FINANCIAL RESOURCES <br />A government whose ongoing financial resources are based on a fair and equitable <br />system of revenues and are adequate to maintain and deliver municipal services <br />2007 AWARDS AND RECOGNITION <br />Riverplay Discovery Village Playground was named the National Project of the Year by the American Public <br />Works Association (APWA). <br />The City of Eugene's Landbanking Program for Affordable Housing was one of 18 finalists nationwide in <br />Harvard University's annual Innovations in American Government Awards, and received a $10,000 grant. <br />The Eugene Airport was awarded first place for Facility Management <br />Excellence by the International Facility Management Association. <br />The City of Eugene received a Certificate of Distinction, the highest <br />honor bestowed by the International City/County Management <br />Association (ICMA) Center for Performance Measurement. <br />The City of Eugene received two awards from the Government <br />Finance Officers Association -one for Distinguished Budget <br />Presentation and one for Excellence in Financial Reporting. <br />The City's Wastewater Division received two awards - a Peak Performance <br />Silver award from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies and a <br />Safety Award from the Pacific Northwest Clean Water Association, <br />The Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries presented the <br />City of Eugene with an Oregon Plan Award for outstanding protection and <br />enhancement of fish and wildlife habitat during the first phase of the Delta <br />Ponds restoration project. <br />The League of Oregon Cities and City County Insurance Services <br />recognized City of Eugene employees with a Silver Safety Award for their <br />safe work performance. <br />The City of Eugene and Morse Bros. Inc. received the second place award <br />for commercial/industrial paving from the Asphalt Pavement Association of <br />Oregon for a parking lot rehabilitation job at the Eugene Airport. <br />Eugene Public Library partner organization, PAAWS, received the 2007 Oregon Library Association "Library <br />Supporter of the Year" award. <br />Detective Dave Burroughs was honored by the Northwest Outlaw Motorcycle Gang Investigators <br />Association for his outstanding effort and expertise in the investigation of outlaw motorcycle gangs. <br />Cultural Services Operations Manager Mark Loigman received the prestigious two-year Oglebay Scholarship <br />from District N of the International Association of Auditorium Managers. <br />Monroe Street Station volunteer Terri Wright was named Volunteer of the Year by the Crime Prevention <br />Association of Oregon. <br />2 <br />City Manager pro tem Angel Jones accepts <br />ICMA Certificate of Distinction <br />Delta Pandr <br />
