has helped 16 individuals/couples at an average cost of $486.50 per person/couple. ShelterCare has <br />helped 23 families at an average cost of $394.16 per family. <br />The funding actually became available in October 2006. Since then, the four agencies have lost <br />contact with fewer than five individuals/families, and only three became homeless despite the <br />financial assistance provided. The remaining families and individuals are still in contact with case <br />.managers and. continue to remain in housing. <br />Landlords have expressed appreciation for this program. They report to case managers that, in <br />addition to the financial assistance, the increased communication skill techniques and other skills <br />provided to individuals/families are helping with ongoing relationships and increased stability. <br />$50,000 Homeless transportation assistance <br />Status: Initially, $20,000 was added to LTD's Not-for-Profit Discount Program and actual assistance <br />began in the fall of 2007. Once qualified to participate, agencies were provided a discount of 75% <br />off retail token prices in order to serve homeless clients. To date, $14,750 has been utilized by these <br />organizations. $6,200 was allocated to White Bird Clinic to provide critical transportation services <br />for special needs individuals who cannot be accommodated through the LTD system. $4,000 was <br />programmed as grant match for state funds. $30,000 was set aside as a grant matching pool. These <br />~_~ funds are intended to leverage state or federal grants that would enable program funding to be <br />stretched. Notification regarding this grant will come in May 2007. Unused 2006-07 funds will be <br />rolled forward for similar purposes in 2007-08. <br />$50,000 Access Center expanded hours <br />Status: The Eugene Service :Station expanded its weekend hours year-round. First Place Center, <br />which previously had weekend hours during the school year, now also has weekend hours during the <br />summer. <br />During the Quarter January -March, 2007 St. Vincent dePaul served the following families <br />and individuals: <br />January 2007: <br />33 separate families used First Place day services on weekends in January <br />376 person days of day shelter were provided in January (duplicated count) <br />February 2007: <br />32 separate families used First Place day services on weekends in February <br />332 person days of day shelter were provided in February (duplicated count) <br />March 2007: <br />32 separate families used First Place services on weekends in March <br />378 person days of day shelter were provided in March (duplicated count) <br />Total person days of day shelter: 1,086 for the quarter. <br />At the Eugene Service Station 2,016 single adults received services during the quarter and 11 <br />guests received homeless prevention assistance. <br />$70,000 Safe & Sound/City of Eugene funding <br />The $70,000 in funding invested each year by the City of Eugene, from July 1, 2003, through June <br />30, 2006, contributed to mental health and substance abuse services for more than 950 homeless, <br />-5- <br />
