CHALLENGES <br />The biggest challenge will be to identify funding for some of the recommendations that will come <br />from the Community Committee on Race. In addition, some of the recommendations require <br />working on community-wide solutions with the 10 other public entities that are part of the Diversity <br />and Human Rights Coalition (DHRC). The diversity efforts in each of these organizations are at <br />various levels of development making it challenging when trying to agree and fund common <br />strategies among the group. <br />INTERMEDIATE MEASURES <br />The Mayor and all councilors attended "privilege" training and continue to attend additional <br />training. <br />150 members of the communities of color were invited to the July 12, 2006, dialogue on race <br />and 65 people participated, not including the Mayor and City Councilors. <br />"Perspectives on Profiling" training scheduled. for November 29, 2006, was well-attended and <br />received by the Mayor and City Council. <br />The Mayor, City Council, and Human Rights Commission reviewed a draft of a Hate Incident <br />Response Plan. <br />,~ : FINAL OUTCOME MEASURES <br />"`~~ Communities of color report increased engagement in race relations work with the council. <br />The council reports a deeper understanding of issues of race in the community. <br />The council reports an enhanced personal awareness of their perspectives on race. <br />The council acts swiftly to denounce and counter acts of overt racism in the community. <br />Communities of color report having an enhanced voice in community affairs. <br />Communities of color report feeling less fear and an increased sense of safety and belonging. <br />-2- <br />
