The five regional sections are further sorted by County. Projects are then sorted by Route and then by Work Type. The following information appears for each project in this document: • The first element listed is the Project Name with the Highway Name directly below. • Under the Highway name is the Route, a more common name for a specific section of roadway. • Below the route are the beginning and ending Milepoints. These identify where the project starts and ends. • Below the milepoints is the ACT (Area Commission on Transportation). • Below the ACT is the MPO. This indicates, when applicable, which Metropolitan Planning Organization boundary the project falls within. If the project is outside an MPO boundary, "Non-MPO" is listed. • Below the MPO is a Description of the main project work taking place. • Below the description is the Key number, a unique numeric identifier that stays with the project for its entire life. • Up and to the right is the Funding Information Section. The first four lines are Design, Land Purchase, Utility Reloca- tion and Construction. These are the phases of a construction project. Next is Planning activities relating to studies, re- finement plans, location EIS, MPO planning, State Planning & Research projects. Other is for activities such as Transit (planning, operations, and purchase) and other non-construction projects. The Total Cost and Year columns identify how much total funding is programmed for each phase and the year it was started (if prior to the 2008-2011 STIP period) or the year it is planned to begin. Each column to the right of these phases identifies the type of funding programmed and the amount of that fund. Required matching funds are not included in the columns located to the right of the Total Cost column. • Directly below the funding information is the Applicant. This identifies who the project owner is. • To the right of the applicant field is the Status of the project. This indicates what is happening with the project and in what year. • Below the status line is the Work Type. This identifies the primary type of work associated with each project. The STIP work type order is Modernization first, then Safety, Pavement Preservation, Bridge, and Operations, followed by all other work types.
