SAFETY ~ LOSS CONTROL SERVICES
LRCS employees attended a number of training and programs offered by Safety & Loss Control staff in FY07,
including: Accident Investigation, Worker's Compensation, Safety Inspections, Hazard Communication, and
First Aid/CPR. The graph on the right shows a four year
history of workers compensation claims that resulted in
OSHA-recordable injuries activity for LRCS.
DART (Days Away, Restricted, or Transferred) Rate
Oregon OSHA tracks workers' compensation claims that
result in days away from work, work restrictions or job
transfers and calculates the "DART" Rate. Risk Services staff
has calculated DART rates for each department in an effort to
give departments a mechanism for comparing their losses
with previous years. The DART rates for LRCS and the City as
a whole are shown in the table below. The DART rate for
LRCS increased from 1.4 in FY06 to 3.1 in FY07, but remains
below the City DART of 5.0,
a
1
1
LRCS Workers' Compensatbn Claims vs.
OSHA Recordable Injuries
~ ~~-
OSHA DART RATE
(DART: Days Away, Restricted or Transfered)
Public Sector - 2005 2.1
State of Oregon - 2005 2.9
City of Eugene - 2007 5.0
LRCS - 2007 3.1
(See page 14 for more information)
Vehicle Accidents
The FY07 City-wide Vehicle Mileage Comparison
graph (see page 15) shows that LRCS employees
drove 113,751 miles or 3.4% of the total miles driven
by City employees in City-owned fleet vehicles
during FY07.
