Fec~era~Priorities 2007 Pubic Safety ~fustice
One detective position dedicated to narcotics is inadequate to meet the increased
methamphetamine presence in Lane County. One position is also inadequate to deal with
the properly crime associated with the drug issues, and Lane County is void of
methamphetamine programs in corrections. Lane County seeks $500,000 to establish a
comprehensive methamphetamine target team to investigate and prosecute meth cases and
set up a specialized assessment and referral and treatment program for Lane County jail
inmates addicted to meth.
Summary
The $1.25 million request seeks $750,000 to enhance the .treatment component of the
multidisciplinary approach and $550,000 to work with other agencies on enforcement efforts. In
addition, specific meth-related programs are needed to deal with the jail population impacted by
methamphetamine use and abuse.
33
