There is no city-wide <br /> standard on how employees receive recognition for longevity or significant <br /> accomplishments. When employees leave the organization, asend-off or party is <br /> typically held, with a plaque or some other acknowledgement for their term of <br /> service. The type of memento gifted is a judgment call based on individual. interest <br /> and the amount of funds collected. Supervisors will often use a-mail to <br /> communicate their appreciation or positive acknowledgement to employees. <br /> Following is a listing of the various recognition practices engaged in by the divisions <br /> <br /> 'I of PW: <br /> Administration - no formal recognition practice for current employees. Employees <br /> who resign or retire do get recognized. <br /> Airport -Annual employee recognition event. Safety awards, years of service, <br /> extraordinary effort, innovative ideas and acknowledgement for special <br /> certifications and ro'ects. <br /> P 1 <br /> E i i in 5 ear <br /> ng neering - At an annual training day, awards are given for longev ty y <br /> increments. Also, other unique recognition awards are given based on "votes" or <br /> 4.~ recommendations from the staff. Two awards are given annually - Geraldo for <br /> humor in the workplace (since 1999) and Ernest for outstanding service. <br /> 0 ~ Maintenance and Parks & Open Space -Annual employee recognition event. <br /> , Safety awards, years of service awards and acknowledgement for special <br /> ~ . certifcations and projects. Last year the awards categories were nominated by the <br /> i~ ~ employees. Some of the awards were Grade All Guru, Innovative ideas, creative <br /> reconciler. <br /> Wastewater -Annual employee recognition event.
